High ho the dairy-o a Bald Eagling we will go. :thumb
Was out with Jwear Saturaday hunting Bald Eagles (with camera of course)
As Jeff said first one out of the blocks was a silhouette and then moved away... An hour later we found another on or the same one...Not sure..
Well here is my first shot of this guy up a tree...
The crows or ravens were annoying this guy but he stood his ground....

Photography isn't about the Zone System or any other Ansel Adams nonsense.
It's simply about seeing. You either see or you don't see, the rest is
academic.

Nope not added in post.. I had to underexpose -1.7 stops to keep the white of the Eagle from blowing out... The Crows were harassing the eagle while we were there...

You either were able to get quite close to the eagle or you have wonderful toys:): to play with. I thought the crow was actually the silhouette of another that you had added in post. Not until I RTFM did I realise that the dark bird was in fact a crow and not an eagle.

Thanks...
For this one I was not that close. I moved a bit closer after I get everything setup on the tripod...

I'm glad you guys finally found an eagle. Good shot.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Even though you guys didn't come home with exactly the prize you wanted, it will be cool to compare your future efforts with the first one.
Sometimes people only show the last shot in a long progression of attempts leaving us, the interested observer, out of the entire process. I hope you take us along for the entire ride!!

Well, wew were up there all day and after the count was done we headed back to the Ranger station to get teh other reports and then headed over to whre other Eagles were spotted...
Problem was we never saw another one the rest of the day up there...
Since these Eagles are migratory, they will be leaving sometime in March and head back north. There is NOT a resident Eagle population in the Big Bear area...
I do know of a nesting pair of Eagles around Lake Hemet yearround residents...
Both Jeff and I shot tons of shots with the Crows harrassing the Eagle.. But that was about all the action we had that day....
