I am trying to figure out the most effective background for a field of horses's... eye shot..

Which background works best for you?

Thanks as always

a non descript-plain, white, black, green, kinda background

something with a TINY tad of detail and softer background

To my eye the first one is a little too bright, and the second one is a tad dark. I'd prefer something in between in darkness/lightness and perhaps more OOF. If that makes sense, thats just me though.

    Steve
...I think your are right..I could not quite put my finger on it. I will look for a pale afternoon sky, a neutral fence/building or perhaps some light green foliage.

My second shot may have worked, if I had not underexposed the photo.

    Thanks for your thoughts

what i like about the first one is that there is another horse reflected in the horse's eye.......very subtle
