Hi Y'all,

Here's a few PIFs (pelicans in flight) that I got on our jaunt to Sebastian Inlet

56188802-O.jpg

56188804-O.jpg

These ain't as easy to get as they look. First you have to stand on hard slippery rocks and wait minutes for a pelican to arrive as Nightingale, David Mutter and Gordon Large demonstrate
56188806-O.jpg

Then once you get decent spot it get a tad crowded as folks like Pathfinder and Rhuarc crowd in
56188808-O.jpg

Here nightingale uses a long lens and stealth to move in on a target
56188811-O.jpg

Here one rowdy pelican is removed by park authorities

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Poor Pelican
What did it do wrong and where did the ranger take it?

Actually she's a vet and she takes in wounded or ill pelicans for treatment. She had me hold down a pelican while she removed a fishing line that was caught in a pelican's gullet.

Dude don't say work around Harry. That is one four letter word he takes major offense to and he is likely to throw a pelican at your head if you say it while in his presence.

    Hey Mike,

I'm so glad I got to meet and shoot with you and Michael. It was a lot of fun and we gotta do it again some time. I wish I had your lens. I could have sat in my yard, downed a Corona and got the shots. :D

I know. The problem is that if you had spent more time in the sun your hand wouldn't had been so white and there would have been no highlights to blow. So the answer to the problem is for you to get outside more. :D

About the only way that is going to happen Harry is when I get the opportunity to take more pictures! I can't wait to get outside more when we go up to the St. Augustine Rookery!!

Good advice but I would never use a pelican I would get Nick's osprey to do the dirty work. rolleyes1.gif

It was a great time Jeff. The best part at this shoot and the upcoming Dgrin shoot at Zion was and will be the chance to meet the other photographers.

Harry, I'll be putting in 15 hour days at the OC Convention Center, and at the moment I'm not planning on bothering to rent a car.

If anything changes I'll certainly make the time to drive out to Viera. Now as far as the conversion is concerned... well... we'll see! lol3.gif

15 hour days!!!!!!! :jawdrop That sounds an awful lot like the "W" word. :uhoh :puke

If you have a free dinner hour let me know and I'll drive in to see you. Just as long as I don't have to see any of the "W" stuff it should be OK.
