Big hello to everyone, I'm Rob from the UK and have been impressed with the Forum so I decided to join.

I'm 26 and just got my first "proper" digi cam - Canon 10D
I'm still learning to play with the camera and realise that a good shot is very hard to do (I've seen the quality of peoples work on this site and am very impressed).

Anyway this is a recent shot, probably the first day of the year that allowed a sunset shot. This was taken as a .jpg and has no post processing although it would benefit from it I know. At present the place I put my pics is crap and I need somewhere I can post full sized shots.

Any critic welcome;

Exposure time: 0.011 s (1/90)
Aperture: f/13.0
ISO equiv.: 100

Metering Mode: matrix

    As a recent subscriber to smugmug.com I can highly recommend it. I too was hosting my photos on a crap site - the 10MB my ISP was willing to set aside for my web-site. But there I had to write all the HTML myself and I was spending more time writing the code than doing the photraphy stuff.

    So, after lurking her for a couple of week, I joined. Then someone in a different area dropped a hint to someone that they should drop some small change and get an account on a real server and (hint, hint) smugmug.com was a reasonable place to do that. He was right. Posting photos to the site is easy. Organizing them is almost as easy. Linking the photos to threads here is child's play. Life is good.clap.gif

    BTW - from one noobee to another, welcome to the neighborhood.:):

    BTW2 - Very nice photo.

    Hi & welcome to dgrin, good to have some more Brits around the place.

    Lovely shot, & well exposed, very calm feel to it. Where is it?
    The jetty looks a little soft and could do with a little sharpening. What software do you use?

    Thanks everyone for the warm welcome. The shot is striaght off the camera and hasn't seen photoshop yet. A small crop and sharpening would indeed benifit the shot.

    gubbs - the shot was taken on West Kirby Marine Lake on the Wirral (between Liverpool and Chester/Wales). Thanks for the link to the sharpening thumb.gif
