blurry photos

I just recently posted this in the whipping post, for which I was thoroughly castigated-

thankfully, I'm getting new glasses soon-

I had many good suggestions for both what I need to do next time I try this kind of shot, and also for pp-

one thing that helped in trying to work on this pic was Scott Kelby's book, the photoshop cs2 book-

he has a section on blurry photos-

    in this pp photo (the first was the unretouched jpeg) (I guess you could figure that out, huh), I used his great technique to work on my poor focusing technique:

    you go to image size and bring the resolution down to 72 ppi (unless you're already there), go to smart sharpen (cs2 only, I believe) and set the amount to 58%, radius at 1 pixel, set the remove to gaussian blur, turn on the more accurate box, and click ok-

    then run it again-

    by the way, this book is, imo, one of the must books if you use photoshop-
