Sue
This weekend didn't go quite like I had planned. Sue's son and his girlfriend wanted me to do a semi-formal shot of them, but a surgery in the family prevented the sitting.
As usual, Sue was patient and willing for me to photograph her, which is good, because I got her a locket for Valentine's Day, and I think this will work nicely for her image. (Ulterior motives, you say?)

I like her natural smile. But it seems to me a bit oversharped.

You are both right! I sharpen after I re-sample for the Web, and sometimes it is too much.
Here is a version with just some sharpening attention to the eyes.

I no longer have access to my usual quality monitor, so I will defer to your sense that the original is oversaturated. (This is also the first image where the first treatment was done with "freeware", first through Raw Shooter Essentials and then using the GIMP for Windows.)
I used PS7 to lighten and blur the background, and I reduced the red skin tone and also reduced overall saturation by just a bit.
How does this look?
Thanks,

I went back to square one, the RAW file, and processed it with much lower contrast overall, but especially lower shadow contrast.
I exported the file as a 16 bit TIF and brought it into PS7, where I reworked the skin tones "by the numbers", (hopefully).
Would some kind person check to see if the skin tones are now (more) reasonable?
Thoughts?

Please? (I know, I forgot.)
