So what do you guys think so far? There are some really cute sisters that are on the US curling team.

You may not use *cute* and *curling* in the same sentence. Darned, I just did it myself.

Tsk Tsk Andy. Don't you remember being young. I know that was a long long long long time ago for you but you should still remember the basics. Girls go with cars. It's like BBQ sauce and ribs. And those two athletes (saying athlete and reffering to a curler is even worse than using cute and curler in the same sentence) would look great standing next to a 350Z in some summer clothes.

Cassie Johnson is cuter than her sister. Didn't know Minn. was a hot bed of curling talent. For some reason Mens and Womens US curling has been on every morning this week when I get up, so I have watched it a lot.

Is curling a real sport people care about outside of the Olympics?!?! Maybe it's a regional thing, but in the States, I can't think of anywhere it is popular, or maybe even heard of mwink.gif

Maybe it's just me, but the Olympics just seem so...so...so irrelevant.

We have a curling club by my house in the detroit area. Overall though it's not that popular in america. However, it is a freaking huge sport in canada. ne_nau.gif must be that cold temperatures affect the brain and make people think mundane sports like curling are great to watch... But then again we also watch golf. Blech talk about nap time.

Meh. You probably don't appreciate Bocce, either. Bocce and Curling and sports of grace, skill and style. Neither requires brute force.

Maybe curling isn't your cup of tea. But surely there's something offered that does tickle your fancy. I love the down-hill and GS skiing events. Not to mention the luge and skeleton and whatnot. That stuff's just crazy!

The other night I watched a girl from Maine slide down the side of a mountian at 50-60 MPH in a skin-tight suit on a pair of glorified 2x4's.. I don't care who you are, that's just cool!

My TV's been permanantly tuned in all week. I love it!

Well said Andy. Curling is certaintly a sport that requires physical as well as mental toughness. Not many people would think it when they watch the "pros" on TV (cause they make it look so easy).

I can only imagine a tough all-star football player trying to curl and look like an ass. rolleyes1.gif

Anyway, it's more fun to play then to watch - but that's like most sports.

    GO CANADA GO!!!

    Canada medals - 11
    USA medals - 10

    Sweet.....

I'm starting to sound like an old man, but personally, I'd rather watch curling, where at least they are dressed like athletes and there is some strategy involved. Sure beats watching the baggy pants fall off all the pimple faced snowboarders. What the hell was up with the "uniforms" this year? They all looked like a bunch of 7 year old yankee fans in daddy's replica uniform. Damn kids.

You are an old man you start acting like that. There is nothing wrong with snowboarding and it beats the crap out of curling. Argh, may your next fill up be with watery gas.

At least I wear pants that fit. And especially if I was representing my country on international TV. Heck, I'd even take the finger out for that. nod.gif

What's with the new snowboard cross races? First time I ever witnessed anything like that. Way cool stuff! X-Games meets the Olympics.

BTW, when do they begin the snowmobile races? What day should I tune in?

Google doesn't think so: Today's Google Page... And so, in high schools across the land, football and baseball teams are disbanded, to make way for the Curling Team! Yeah baby!

I'm just pushing through all this ice skating with the knowledge that eventually we'll get to more 'boarding.

...and yet soon it'll all be over and we'll go back to searching the Tivo for something -- anything -- worth watching.

Curling would sure clear off those boring ice skaters of the ice. New Sport, 50 points for an ice dancer and a 100 for a man in tights.

I think an NFL offensive lineman chucking curling stones 20 feet would be interesting.

Olympics are OK. But curling is cool.

    Curling is the new black.

Ever play boules/petanques? I grew up around that stuff. Same games, only on ice. Strategy, tension, skill, babes -- curling has it all.

Curling is great. I heard a NPR radio clip about how the popularity of curling has shot through the roof in the US, Europe, and Asia since the 2002 SLC Olympics.

I was at the the 2002 Salt Lake City Olympics and we had tickets for the womens curling semi-finals. It was a lot of fun - kind of the "beach volleyball" of the winter games - actually I think snowboarding claims that title - but the crowd was pretty rowdy and having a good time.

I look back at my pics and wish I had my current dslr then. My little Canon s30 P&S had it's limitations. I need to go back and re-work many of my original shots in CS2. I only had elements 2.X back then and wasn't very good using it.

FWIW, here's the whole gallery: http://cs-pics.smugmug.com/gallery/640464

I'm grumpy: I have yet to catch a single curling match on the tube so far these olympics. I have super basic cable (I'm a cheapskate) and don't get the extra-fancy special channels like USA or CNBC and haven't got a Tivo for time-shifting. Sadly all they run on the main NBC affiliates in prime-time is the more mainstream stuff. Don't get me wrong, I'm still enjoying it. But my mission is to catch at least ONE curling match on the tube before these games are over.. To me it's like those bass fishing shows: oddly facinating..

I like moguls....And we got a gold yeehaaa....One of our women aerial skiiers had a really really awful accident and her tore her knee grafts. The skiing-shooting-skiing-shooting one has always been lost on me.

But I like the figure skating, I watch it and dream I was that graceful. Till the fall over and I laugh because I'm a sick sick person....rolleyes1.gif

I would be very surprised if curling got more than a few minutes of TV time here in OZ, after all we don't have a team.
