Grace wants to schedule a shoot with me to do some headshots... She wants to get into acting...

So i told her to come by so we can take a snap or two just for fun.

We will do a real shoot later on.

So here's Grace :)

    Hi, Steven
    Nice Photo!
I would blur the background some more.
I would take some shots with out cutting off the top of the head also.
She has a great smile! I think you will get some great shots of her
    with the next photo shoot.

    Good Luck,
    Chuck,

    very pretty lady-

one thing I like to do if I think the color is off (if you've got ps)-

    bring up hue/saturation-

drop down to each of the colors and lower the saturation in each-this will give you some idea of color cast-

usually there will be one or two colors where you'll see a significant change (I would concentrate on flesh tone versus shirt color, etc.)-

on those one or two colors, leave the saturation slider where the color seems more natural-

then go back to master and tweak with the hue to finalize a natural flesh tone-

might have to use master saturation to bring it back up some-

this takes less than a minute (a lot less time than typing this out!) and, I believe, can make a big difference)-

and I agree with chuck on his advice-

please post if you shoot some more of grace-should be nice-

    george

ps if you shoot in raw, adjust your wb in raw before moving on in ps--

Thanks for taking the time to do this.

I am still trying to perfect my workflow. At the same time, i really need to calibrate my monitor. I've looked at this image on 3 different screens and it looks different on each.

Thanks for showing me the potential.

    1. Very pretty girl. I'll look forward too seeing your headshots when you do them.
    2. The background is distracting. When you do it for real, see if you can find a better background too shoot with some distance between the subject and the background. Shoot at the long end of your 717 with the largest apeture setting. People say you can't get good background blur with a small sensor but that is just plain wrong. It just takes more effort and thought.
    3. Try for an overcast day or early morning/evening light. Overcast is perfect for soft natural looking lighting. Early morning/evening for natural dramatic lighting. I'd try to arrange something that made me avoid onboard flash.

looks to me like you used a wide angle lens here and were fairly close. Wide angles are seldom flattering. I would try to shoot from further away with a telephoto. In this case, here face looks rounded, not the most flattering in my opinion.

    I agree Jim.. Thanks...

Like I mentioned above... this was just a quick "Hey come over to my desk, so I can snap a pic or two of you, just for fun"

That's all it was... we will schedule a real shoot soon though and I will be able to control my background as well as lighting and my position.

I used my 717 with Sunpak 383 and Gary Fong's LSPJII

    Thanks,

    Steven
