My flight back home to LA from Orlando, FL started with a nice floridian sunrise:
gave me a nice aerial view of Orlando:
continued though the very clear plains of the South:
gave me some perfect views of our own perfect contrail:
and finally let me see our own shadow (does it mean the winter is gonna last six more weeks?):
Of course, 5.5 hours of flying is no fun, but at least I got a few shots:-)

Enjoy cross-country shooting!

My last flight I had some incredible stuff out the window and a sleeping 4 year old on my lap.
It was all I could do to let her sleep and miss the photo.... :cry

Thanks!
I guess it's time to get one of those Sony DSC-T7s, then you can take the shot with two fingers and keep the baby happy... :
Cheers!
I guess I was watching HBO too much. And I like that movie:-)
Cheers!
Cool shots Nic!

My flight in was a redeye, could not see a thing. But I was rewarded on my way home:-)
Thanks!
Thanks, man!
For some reason I never had sun at such an angle while having air so clear and still, so our contrail shadow can reach the surface 10km below us undisturbed...
Cheers!
And yes, I usually get a dirty window too This flight was a rare exception. There was some dirt in the upper third quarter, but I managed to avoid it shooting downward...:):
Cheers!
Yeah on my trip in january I only even tried once and this is about the best I did, that is not dust on my sensor.
This is a whole gallery of the Philippines from a jet window.

Somehow I am never happy with what I get from a jet. Did you shoot MF? or was your AF working through the window? I have had a lot of focus searching when I tried to use AF. In auto mode my P&S fired the flash too. :uhoh Bright light? who me?

I shot AF simply because it worked fine, but couple of times I switched to MF. I was shooting during the bright day, so my aperture was pretty high and I was able to set up for kinda hyper-focal distance, even though there was no such mark on my zoom lens...
I had similar very dirty windows on my few transatlantic flights. Tedious rubber stamping in lighten/darken blend mode is usually the only choice.
Awesome Nik

I wish I switched to continuous drive at the point, but no sir...
Anyway, thus far it was the best series of landing shots I ever had:-)
Glad you liked it:-)
Cheers!
