    The first shot is better to me because you can see the birds more clearly against the white background. If you really want to put a color cast on the shot you should use blue because it conveys the feeling of cold.

    Your first shot is by far the best. My eyes immediately have something to follow...the straight linear flight of the birds from one corner of the photo to the other. I like the surprising feeling of the peaceful, snowy scenery as a backdrop for the unexpected, fast take-off of the birds. I also like that the photo appears to be black and white but is not. In your second shot, by comparison, my eyes are confused immediately at what I am looking at. The birds are flying so chaotically that it is hard to know where to focus. It's a strange shot, the birds appear to be falling out of the sky and the green does not save it. Your first shot is the winner!
