How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Because he's better off just waiting instead of settling for an inferior lens?headscratch.gif

Never go for second best when you can get the best.

HAHA the 200L 1.8 is hardly inferior. It appears to be a more sought after lens now then when it came out.

We could continue this but it isn't a Canon Vs Nikon thread.

Nor was it meant to be. It was a joke. One could hardly call it superior either though. I think the suggestion to buy a 200L vs. a 200VR was a joke also.

On a serious note I would say how sought after a lens is can hardly tell you much about it's quality vs. other lenses. I would think a Canon shooter with that specific need seeking out the Nikon mount 200VR over the 200L would be quite insane. rolleyes1.gif

I think the reason you see people looking for the 200 f/1.8 is more for sports
in dungeon-like conditions. It is nice but expensive.

Those avian portraits are lovely Harry, but they were not shot in the wild I bet. To get full frame non-cropped images of those birds, suggests to me they were captives in a raptor center perhaps. Did it say anywhere on the website that they were in the wild?

If not, they could be shot with a 200 f2.8 just as easliy. But that 200 f2 VR certainly does look sweet. Ya think Canon will ever make one like that??

Harry didn't you just update your lens collection? That sure looks like a sweet piece of glass. I bet it would serve you well at the St Augustine Rookery.
