What do you think? I can reshoot, still have tomorrow to work on it. I tried to get as much of the reflection on top of the water as I could but it was impossible to get the whole reflection.:dunno

    I like this one!
    What do you think?Siamese2.jpg

How cool, a real neat shot. If possible, try to get a little better lighting... I love the bubbles!

    Thanks Dee!
Difficult shooting this. Bubbles tend to get in the way at just the wrong time.rolleyes1.gif
I was using one light on top of the tank for these shots. I don't know about using two. Might cook him. eek7.gif

Wish my cord for off camera flash would get here.:cry I think that might give more light but ohwell.

Oh that is a pretty shot #1. Agree about the lighting, still very nice as it is.

    Thanks Thusie!
I'm going to try shooting again with a rigged up flash. rolleyes1.gifI have a VERY short cord. I've read several websites about aquarium shooting and also a few threads here. ne_nau.gif none of them talk about Macro aquarium shooting.

Great shot of the beta. I tend to like the first one the best, the fish swimming towards the camera.

Thanks Sandy, I'm partial to that one also. I just don't know if it's "technically" good enough to hold up to some of the images already entered. WOW there are some fantastic shots in there already. I'll probably post it and just hold my breath.

I like your first frame the best also - It takes the eye a second to decipher what it is looking at, rather than the plain side view that looks like a catalog shot. The bubbles are asecondry subject that frames the beta.

Thank PF! There are so many great shots in the challenge this time. I don't hold a chance of even being in the top ten. Oh well, it's fun to shoot for the challenges. Gets you to think out of your comfortable little box sometimes. On this shoot, I learned a lot of things.
    Photographing through glass is tough.
    Reflections can be a b***h
Chicken lamps get hot quick. Laughing.gif (1, 2 and 3 shots)
Shooting under a black cloth in the dark makes it hard to focus and frame your shot.. He He That is how I shot the "catalog" shot using my flash.
My husband thinks I'm really weird. He's watching Nascar - I'm in the kitchen with black material over my head blinding a poor fish.:D

Amazing fish. They are about the size of my little finger - maybe 3" tops. Shooting with the macro makes him look like some man eating giant.

    Thanks again,
    Dana

A polarizing filter might help with the reflections. It might be cooler than a black tent also:D Might not work as well, might be better. Depends on where the lights were.

rolleyes1.gifyeah shot with that on too, I tried everything in the book. Even with polarizer on the windows in the room were giving me a bad time. Was a fun experiment and I really did learn a lot.

Pretty soon I will be learning a lot more! When I get my new 20D and lens I just bought from Andy.... stand by for my crazy experiments.clap.gif
