Birds of Prey: ONE

I am just going to post these as I see them, kind of!
Three days of shooting, often of the same thing. Some I got, some I didn't. The light was different each day. The people were tired of me......now why would that be? I didn't hear a word anyone said. Don't have much info, this place is huge, but will it open to the public. Yes, always in the future, now this summer sometime.

These were taken at the South Carolina Wildlife Expo: The Birds Of Prey....

The first one I do know is an eagle, I forget which kind. Doesn't look much like an eagle. It flew yesterday, but I was too tired to work anything up, will do!

Above, This is either the owl or the strange looking eagle. Really pretty bad that I can't tell the difference, but it is coming straight at me. This was all, the whole bird, wings and all, in the frame. I cropped it like this. If you want to see the whole bird, let me know. I think this is more dramatic?

Above, I am guessing Falcon??? Note the thing attached to the back of the bird. It is to find him/her, it is on all of them if they fly. It is to find them again if they should "wander off".

Above, a Falcon, I am sure! Those things fly so fast. I have blurs I could show you. He folds up his wings and GOES!

They did say (I made them repeat it.) The owl hunts with his ears, the falcons hunt with their speed and the Hawk hunts by superior eye sight.

more later,

ginger

Steve, yes, I thought it was neat, too. And my 16-35 lens was getting better photos than my 70-200, inside anyway. Then I discovered that every time a bird acted up, the "volunteers" who were handling them were just sure that I was setting the bird off. No, I was not using flash, though others were. One volunteer made sure she was always positioned as far from me as possible. I stopped "bothering" her. I think she was just stressed. I have a photo of her with a bird hanging upside down. She was having problems controlling "her" birds. No one else seemed to be. Except for the owl. I think the owl is "less popular" with the volunteers than some. Maybe he doesn't realize what daytime is, being nocturnal and all.

It was a special opportunity! One I have wanted for a long time. They do want volunteers, but they really want volunteers to clean the cages, and I just want to do photography. They are well known and will open to the public.

I have a sore throat today, I really do think it is related to the weather and pushing myself to be there every day, staying long, etc. But it was so special.

They do have a bald eagle (s), but they said that it required a larger space in order to fly: something like a football stadium.:uhoh

    Thanks for commenting!!!

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Cool series Ginger. The flying falcon looks like a lanner, as does the last pic. The one below the flying lanner looks like a peregrine - now there's a fast flier...
