How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

    Very nice job Mike thumb.gifthumb.gif

    Love the ospreys too iloveyou.gif

So where'd you take these? The reason I ask is I noticed your pelis have some sort of hump/bump on their beaks. I'm wondering how come the whites I see up here don't? ne_nau.gif Maybe different locations/sub species? Or, possibly some sort of growth that only appear during mating/nesting season? headscratch.gif

    Mine look like this

They were taken in Englewood, Fl (Gulf coast, about an hr south of Tampa). In the book (Audubon) it lists them as American White and has a photo of 2 one with the hump and one w/o. Don't really know the differance. I'ts actually the closest I've been to them and just noticed it this time also. They are usually sitting out on a shoal, and this time I waited for a fishing charter to come in and they followed for dinner.

    Great shots Mike,
I checked my National Geographic field guide and it listed the American White Pelican with the hump on its bill as "breeding adult". Hope that helps.

Oh, MY, love that last Osprey shot..............and the others, too.

I read that there are some white pelicans out on a barrier island here. I just have not made myself take the ferry to make the long walk to find them. But I love the photos, they are gorgeous.

Well we now know which guide to get. It doesn't specify in the Audubon guide to FL. Thanks for the input, I was wandering.

    Thanks G
