D200 and short vibration after DoF button release

I just found a D200 somewhere in Boston :clap and i'm still playing with it.
I have one question though:

When i press the DoF button and release it, on the release there is this short (about 0.25 second) vibrating almost 'grinding' (but that word is too strong) noise. My D70 did not do that. The D70 just had 2 loud clicks/clunks.

I noticed that the DoF on the D200 does a more than just closing the lens' diafragm, but is this sound normal? Or is this happening because of a certain camera-setting?

Thanks
(BTW: I bought my D200 at "Bromfield Camera" in Boston. They still may have some in stock)

My D200 DOF preview is actually a lot quieter than my D70. When I press the button, it makes a quick "click". When I release the button, it makes a slightly louder "clunk". Don't you love trying to describe sounds through written word.:D

Are you using a different lens than what you have used on your D70? The VR lenses do make additional noises when compared to a non VR lens. I've noticed that all of my lenses sound much quieter when stopping down on my D200 compared to the D70. It seems like the action must be better dampened or something.

I can't think of any other setting in your camera that would cause a different sound. I wouldn't want to make the call that your camera is defective either. It would be nice to compare it to another camera rather than trying to compare written "clicks" and "clunks":):

    I hope that helps.

    Thanks for your reply.
The lens i used was a non-VR lens. I also tried to put the lens at f/22, but the same noise was produced.

The press of the DoF is not loud at all (i think it's quieter than my D70's), but the release just make this "click-uhghghgh" noise. ne_nau.gif

I've seen one post on the same subject on dpreview.com. But nobody has given the original poster a real answer yet:

I removed the lens, switched the camera on and pressed the DoF button. When pressing the button, the little DoF lever goes down with a little click. When releasing it, the little lever 'slams' against the top of the groove it's protruding from and this 'slam' makes the vibrating noise, it seems.
