Nice work Tim. On a number of the shots you had composition that was some extremely striking. The first shot even got me a tad nervous.

Got you nervous!
That Arctic Wolf was not behind bars or glass! As I was walking down the pathway at the zoo a pretty lady and a golden retriever on a leash come strolling past I said hello and she said hello back I thought, well it is nice they allow dogs in the zoo. One second later I see coming down a side path a huge and I mean huge white dog ... hold it... that is no dog, that's a wolf! I fumble with my cameras and ask if they mind if I take a few shots and if I can go on up ahead.
Sure they say, but.. it is his time and do not run under any circumstances(the old chase kill instinct) so I did the fast olympic walk ahead and snapped this one. As they came past I moved up off the pathway into the plants and the wolf gave me a good once over and a sniff! And only one skinny trainer holding the leash and another lady trainer walking shotgun!
Yikes !
Later I attended a show where the lady handeled the most beautiful big cats.
That would be soo cool Tim. Sounds like a chance few of us will ever get. These shots are really nice, I agree with Harry about the comps. I really like the catch lights in the Meerkat's eyes and the sleeping Koala.
Beautiful shots. The wolf shot is entrancing. If both eyes were the golden yellow, you could not break your stare with it.
I love watching the people watch the animals. Sometimes just as funny and a better show.

Great job, Tim. I live in San Diego and go to the zoo often. I've never gotten that many great shots in one day. So, my hat's off to a great photographer.
I did get a great shot of the elephant one day, probably the same guy you saw. I have a longer lens now, so I may be able to get some faces, but I'd say you have a good eye for composition. I also admire your ability to get them in the right light. It's so tough to do. Nice work.

I sure envy you! San Diego is a wonderful place. We plan to visit there again!

Thanks for the nice words most of the compositions are the direct result of having a prime lens. Not much zoom unless I move my fat carcass forward or back.
