Question For you hawk Birders
How territorial are RedTail hawks, reason, I found three of the most gorgeous birds hanging out in this area, Shame on me I didn't have my camera with me.
I plan on going back there this Sunday, what are my chances that those birds will still be in the area.

I haven't shot any red-tail hawks yet but I have found other hawks to be very territorial found them to be very territorial. I've been shooting this one red-shouldered hawk at the same spot of 6 months now.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
Thats awesome, man these birds are nice, they kept going back to the same spot for an hour or so, it was so cool watching them play.
Can't wait to go photograph them, I just hope that I can figure a way to get back to where they are.
Thanks Harry

Red-tails do generally hang out in the same area. Often using the same trees for look outs. Getting close is still not very easy for the most part. They tend to be very skittish of people. If you can find a single tree they habit then you can try setting up a blind and waiting. I've been trying this with one particular roost for a month though with no luck so far.
Good luck, I hope you're able to get closer than I have been able to.

Making a Frame for your image (Tutorial)
Everyday when I drive to work, I come into an area that is fields bordered by trees near the road (4 lane). In one 3 mile stretch there are two red tails, one at each end. I see them both most everyday and recognize the individual birds. It seems they do have their territory marked out. I have been watching them for years.
Boy oh boy stop the truck and they are off in a flash. I don't have the lens or camera to reach them but I do look for them everyday and they are for the most in their favorite vantage points.
