I dont know about you, but I kinda have a thing for owls, so when I heard that a Saw-whet owl was in a nearby preserve I had to go see if I could find it.

Saw-whets are a very small owl, about 6 inches tall, so I knew he could be hard to find. I have never seen one before so it was well worth the effort to go look,

I did find him and spent about an hour waiting for his eyes to open for that one great shot. He did not cooperate, but I did get lettel peeks. Here is one of the better ones.

I hope you enjoyed it.

Cool, glad you were able to find your subject. Always neat to capture a new bird, especially one as interesting as an owl.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

He's got a real cute wink. We have some very large hoot owls (what ever that is) in our neighborhood, but they only come out in the early evening and night. I need to figure out how to photograph them. Your effort paid off very nicely..........perfect pose.

    Thx Everyone.

I love owls. They are my favorite birds but so hard to find. they are creatures of habit so once you figure out where they are, you can often return to find them on the same branch.

This little guy has two perches he is using. Today he was on the second one which is better lit for evening shooting, I was there at 9 AM.

I did get a couple of shots.

Great looking owl, I've never seen one of those in the wild, how in the world did you spot him?

I have learned that it is important to befriend all of the naturalists in the local parks and preserves. They know where stuff is... :D
