I spotted an eagle in the area. :huh

:uhoh :rofl :rofl

O.K....so it was way too far away to shoot with a 200mm. You wondering if this is really an eagle..eh? :dunno Here is a HEAVY crop of the SAME image.

Yep... a YOUNG EAGLE. I know where this one hangs out. It's just a matter of time before I find the nesting site. I also ran into a buddy today that knows where a huge eagle's nest is ...near my house. He's going to take me there someday. <crosses fingers> I can only hope I get some shots like you've been posting. :D

Here are a couple more with heavy cropping. Doesn't really count as a "photo". I was amazed that I got detail considering the crappy overcast lighting and how much I blew these up. Guess that's why that "L" glass isn't cheap. :wxwax

Congratulations Nick, that's a bald eagle alright, how lucky if you can find them near your house.
Just think he's still young and will be with you for some time maybe. I would be out of luck with my 200 though. I have a few more posts, and then I'm going to put up some juveniles that aren't to shabby. I hope to return next year, if my advanced age will allow, and then we can have some good competition.

Hey William. Who's NICK ? Hope you can return also. Enjoyed meeting you at MI3. Your comments lead me to wonder if you shot those eagles in Florida? I know there are more Baldies in this state than any other. You'd think I could find more of them. rolleyes1.gif There are supposedly 3 eagle's nests within my area that I've heard about. I'm sure there are dozens more if I get serious about finding them. I know they are at Myakka state park and a local park called Oscar Shears. I also know Michael Allen knows of one down by him. I'll have to get him to give up the location. umph.gif

Here is one from the end of my street. rolleyes1.gif

Sorry about that Mike.......somtimes when I type Mike it comes out Nick.........gotta get a new keyboard I guess. I did shoot the birds in Florida, but at the risk of repeating myself, the people asked me not to tell others, because they're afraid too many photographers will cause a problem. I feel obligated to honor their request, besides you're going to put me to shame soon, I can just feel it coming. Good luck.

Hey Mike.....we need to figure out where Dallas was. We can now narrow it down. Recognize the terain ? We need to go find us some eagles. You'll have to quit that job, Mike. :D <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/rolleyes1.gif" border="0" alt="" > I've got plenty of white spray paint. I don't think that'll help that 200mm. That camo blind just might ...though. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/headscratch.gif" border="0" alt="" >

Dallas..no worries about "Nick". I was just bustin' your chops. It's the least I could do for posting those eagle shots. I think you give me a bit too much credit. Don't know if I can top your shots. I'd be happy to equal them at this point. Well done <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/thumb.gif" border="0" alt="" > You can tell me where the location is...I can't drive so IT"S safe. I won't tell anyone else. :uhoh :D JK. I understand your situation. No problem. I am curious...though....was it private property? (not that stops me hehehe).

Here are some from Vierra Wet Lands. Again..really too far away to be a decent shot. HEAVY CROP ACTION ON THESE. <grumble grumble> That 200mm is killin' me. I've not saved up enough for the 300mm/2.8 or 500mm yet. I did get the 1.4x TC..but that doesn't do much.

Hey, Mike and Mike, if you can figure it out it's ok by me............at least I didn't tell. I also bought a Kenko 2X TC, but it really doesn't work well for me. If we want better birds pictures, it either get in closer or longer lens I suppose.

Thanks Steve. If I could walk on water ....I'd have had those shots. :D

Hey Dallas...good man. You can keep a secret. I kind of wish you couldn't . eek7.gif:D I am hoping I find a "golden nest" shooting spot soon. I've got the "word" out to my locals. Perhaps I can persuade a pair of eagles to come live in the large tree across the canal. Then I could shoot them from my patio. :uhoh rolleyes1.gif

You need to work on that, after all you have every other bird with in about 100 yard radius.
