there are several places along the mississippi river here in minnesota that they tend to gather. the day i was there it was SO cold (minus 15 with 20mpg wind), i could barely stay out of the car long enough to shoot. several of these are pretty fierce crops, but they are the first time i have ever even seen eagles....they are really awesome.

Yeah, me too, Scott! I gave up, and that was before the screaming eagles, no way could the ONE eagle that I know of in our area compete with the shots coming in.

And I thought it was that they were wintering in warm climates???? Since these eagles appear to be all over right now, where do they go in the Summer??

The sun came out here, cold and windy, but sun. The guilts are at me!

Nice eagle shots, Laura! It is you, isn't it! Must have been absolutely awesome!

Considering your shooting conditions, it a wonder you got anything at all. However you have done very well at such a distance with a 300mm. Nice Eagles.......when the weather gets better you'll find some beauties.

Congrats on your first eagle shots. The first time is always a major thrill. You did pretty good considering the conditions (way too cold for me) and the fact you only had 300mm in reach.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

to kind of top it off, yesterday i was coming home from the trip to photograph the swans down near minneapolis. i live about 2 hours north of there, out in the country. just as i got to my turn onto the dirt road to my place, i saw FIVE eagles flying above the road. i took some shots, but they really were too high up. however, they are sure close.

today i took out the 4 wheeler (which is a very cold idea, i discovered on the way back) to try going into the woods down the road. i saw a few flying as i got there, but couldn't see them again. so i rode another mile or two down toward where i saw them yesterday, and as i turned around, there was a youngster doing his sky dance just for me. again, rather far away, but i gave it a shot.
