Extremely rare northern egret....
feeling a bit left out of egretfest 2006, I am reporting a sighting of the extremely rare Great Northern Egret just off Long Island Sound and about thirty feet up in a tree...taken yesterday....
Now I admit he's not as handsome as some of his Florida cousins, but just look at those tailfeathers!
Sometimes it pays to look up (as long as you're not *directly* underneath...)
Regards...Keith

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

ID aside, this is a great exposure - very difficult light.

It's a Wild Turkey! (but you all really knew that, right?)...but just to keep in the spirit of things...here's an old egret...
