Yesterday we went into the city to see a Broadway musical (Wicked), and I thought it might be an opportunity to try out my new 10-22 zoom. It was very cold and windy, but I managed to take a few shots.

First we had brunch in this restaraunt. I love the way this lens captures the entire restaraunt in a single shot. This shot is 10mm, F3.5, ISO1600, 1/60s. Yeah, it was actually pretty dark in there.

I'm impressed by the resolution of this lens. The crop looks like a telephoto.

Nice car. I guess the driver of the white car think so too. :yikes

This was my first photo shoot in NY, and I must say it's a lot of fun. I'll definitely be back on a warmer day when I have more time to shoot. The new lens seems to be working well for me. I think I'll keep it. :nod

Thanks for looking.

    wide angle lens
I myself like wide angles very much.
It takes a lot in one picture and gives a new perspective to the environment.:):
Sometimes, the perspective is distorted and that is not - many times - very nice.
Your shot of the car is good, thought I like best BMW...

That's very interesting. I would ahve figured on more distortion at 10mm, but it really looks quite "normal", considering.

    Hey Kdog,

    Great pix!

You mentioned that you went into the city to see Wicked. Did you take your camera into the theatre and was there any problem with security? Just curious because I'm getting ready to go to NYC and don't want to make a trip back to the hotel to pick up the camera. Would rather be able to carry it along with me.

    Thanks!

    Thanks for the comments, folks!

Nancy, yes I brought my camera into the theatre. I had a (large) Crumpler bag over my shoulder, and a security guard asked for a look inside. One look at the camera, and he waved me right through with a friendly "enjoy the show".

No photographs were allowed inside though, according to a note in the program. I was a good boy and kept my camera in the bag, despite the fact that folks with camera phones were snapping them all around me. umph.gif

Owen, the show was awesome. Honestly, I'm not usually a huge fan of musicals. But this one was special. I even got a little teary-eyed near the end, but don't tell anyone.

Yoww. Very nice shot of a very nice car. I guess we have a similar eye for the composition, which makes me feel good, seeing as how I'm new to this.

The auto-park where we parked our car for the evening in NYC had a new BMW 645 backed into a space. I hadn't seen any of these yet, and at first glance I thought it was a Z8, so had to go over get a closer look. I would have taken a picture of it, but it was pretty dark in the garage. The tail is not as nice as the nose on that car though.

Unfortunately, the only BMW I own looks like this:

I once had a motorcycle: an Honda CB750 cc. It is sold now because I like better to drive the car. (the age you know...)
In Portugal, to drive a motorcycle is rather dangerous as it is anywere.
You know that. Yes, it gives a LOT of pleasure... The spaces in Europe are not so big as in the USA. Your motorcycle is gorgeous but for long rides...
I was told - I have never driven one - that to drive a BMW motorcycle is different from driving another brand... It is better.
Good Heath to you, good rides and good photos...thumb.gif
    Best regards.
