*** mod edit [02.28.06]: Lens sold, Nikon D200 body for $1,475 or best offer ***

Both were purchased last December and shot about 6GB worth of pictures. Actually, I filled my 1GB card only five times...

The USA body was purchased from eBay and I have all the packaging and un-filled warranty cards. The lens was purchased from Samy's Camera in Los Angeles.

I am in Orange County, California and do welcome inspection in person if you prefer.

The best way to reach me is by calling my mobile at 310-989-2003 or at my office 949-672-6538.

Please excuse the image quality. The pictures were taken with Canon :D

Is this an auction or is there a price?

Mark, wanted to welcome you to dgrin, and suggest that as a newb selling some serious gear, a good description, price, and perhaps some actual photos will go a long way on this forum. I'm sure there is more than 1 person here looking for a D200.

    Good luck with your sale.

    I know Doc...

I will take photos of the gear tonight.

I do not know how to describe it in words and that is the reason why I prefer the buyer to be local and inspect them in person.

    Sucks to be a Newbe!

    I am asking $2500

Please do not make offers until we can arrange some sort of independent inspection service... perhaps by some trusted DGrinner here in Southern California.

    Reason for selling?
    Canon won the "arms" race?
Have you been able to test for the reported "banding" problem found on some bodies?

I knew, of course, that trees and plants had roots, stems, bark, branches and foliage that reached up toward the light. But I was coming to realize that the real magician was light itself.

    To answer John.

    John,
I am not sure how the first two questions are critical to the sale. For the third question; if you could point me to a site where such test is described to determine if the Camera has the "banding" issue, I would be more than happy to provide the RAW file to you.

I will try to answer the first two questions but I am not sure whether I am correct. One of the reasons is that, the D200 has not become a replacement for my Leica M6 TTL as I have hoped. I like the low light photography and D200 is not meeting what I have expected. Most likely is not the Camera's fault, but perhaps I refuse to learn the new tricks. Will Canon's metering and better high-ISO performance be closer; I do not know.

But I will give the 20D and latest 30D a try. Or just wait for the Leica to come out with the "Digital-M" rangefinder.

02/28 Update: The Lens is no longer for sale!
The lens is no longer for sale. Samy's Camera will give me a credit for the lens. Afterall they took my $2000 Summicron for that Nikkor!:cry

thumb.gif The Nikon D200 body for $1,475 or best offer.

IMPORTANT: Will *NOT* sell unless the buyer or a representative do a full inspection, i.e, bring your own lenses, flash, laptop, and software.

I'm editing your title and your post to reflect this strict local sale... too bad, I'd would have thought harder about it for myself. Seems like a good deal on a new D200 to me.
