It was raining this morning and very cloudy. I had the camera set on ISO 800 because of the lack of light. When there was a slight break in the rain and a bit of sun, I managed to get these two shots. I was happy to get a bit of sunlight on the subjects. I used gausian blur on the background of #1 but not on #2. Oh, there seems to be some streakes in the background, these are probably because they were shot through the kitchen window. Actually, I'm surprised that I don't see the raindrops on the glass.

Thank you John, Ed, Thusi, and Greaper. I'm really excited that I finally got some acceptable shots of these small birds. I've been working real hard at it. I think it was the rainy day that did it. :D The light was better. Thanks all for looking.

Hi, Snappy, I will go along with everyone else. I like the first shot best, too. But they are both good! Very good!

That bird is still backlit, you were good at 800 ISO, I am always forgetting the ISO. Especially since I have not been shooting birds much, or something. I hate it when I mess a shot up because of the ISO.

But you were lucky enough not to change it. I love the light in that first bird's eye. He is lit the best, don't you think? Good shooting!

ginger (I don't know what the wind is like where you are, but our winds were something else today! Very few birds out, and those that were could only fly in one direction. Luckily for the egrets, the direction appeared to be towards Florida!)
After all is said and done, it is the sweet tea.

Thanks William, Jeff, Steve and Ginger. Yes I like the first one the best too. The light is best on that one.

Yes Jeff, it does look like a shiny floor.:D The reflection came out well in that one.

Thanks Steve, I used to make those frames a lot. But some folks here don't like frames, say they detract from the picture. On these, I just thought they deserved to be finished. As Andy says, "When your proud of your finished product, you just naturally want to present it well."

The light could have been better in the second image and it seems a bit soft around the face, but the feathers are sharp. I think these are the best bird shots I've gotten in the past few weeks, since I've been working with this lens. I'll probably get better in time, but I'm pleased with these for now.

Thanks everyone, for looking and for your very kind words.
