    Composition

Don't you think that the area on the left should be on the right ?headscratch.gif
After all the motorcycle is going to the right...
thumb.gif I like the movement and the wide angle. I would like to have more detail on the shadows. thumb.gif
Have more shots of this serie ?
Yes you do. Here http://www.siriusphotoimages.com/gallery/1236344/2/57924183/Medium there is more field ahead of the rider. This is nice.thumb.gif

There was a time that I would have agreed with this, however now I think it does not matter. The shot carries drama with an indication of where the bike has come from. I used to get hung up on "correct composure" however I see more and more great shots away from the norm and they really work. That makes me keep trying different stuff all the time, some work out others do not. Alway learning!!! thumb.gif

    All the best

I agree with Paul. When I teach the Photography Merit Badge to 11-17 year-old boys, I tell them there are no rules only guidelines. Start by learning and following the guidelines... then start being creative by bending or breaking them and seeing what works and what doesn't. That's the "art" part of photography - knowing (or guessing right) when it's ok to break the rules.

thumb.gifI like shot #2 here even though it goes against the normal guidelines.

Indeed the rules are less and less so. No rules. Only guide lines.
Sometimes I put thing to extremes to better understand the "reasonable middle" or common sense:
Let's assume there is no rules at all !... Stupid.
Let's assume there are so many rules that one can't move. Stupid too.
    Anachie and dictatorship.
The truth lies in between. This is the difficulty: To establish a guide line coerent and consistent with respect for the others.

What is the difference between terrorism and actions defending democracie ?headscratch.gif
The Cruzades in the old times killed many many arabes... under the name of God... Portuguese did it in Asia, India, Africa.
    Philosophical matters...
For me my friends, I like best a composition the old way with rare exceptions.
Because of my age may be.

Many thanks guys, I do understand the comments about the composition and so called `rules' but I chose this shot for your comments because I still think the shot works in a strange way and you guys have confirmed that for methumb.gif

I'd like to welcome you also Egg wave.gif

You posted some nice pics and like most others, I really dig the 2nd shot. I really don't mind whether he's coming or going (composition-wise) but I dig your use of a wide angle, with some motion blur, where one would usually expect to see a "motion freezing" tele shot thumb.gif

So now that you've finally got up the nerve to post some pics, we'll expect you to jump right in with the rest of us camera crazies clap.gif

    Laughing.gif Antonio,

No winners or losers here. Just different eyes, with different experiences, looking at the same image. Although you are correct about the guideline, I believe this image works well either way.

I am old too (physically only.....lol) and I have had to broaden my my views to accept what seems to work ne_nau.gif As mentioned, there really aren't many hard and fast photography rules. Only guidelines which you can freely ignore or push the limits of :D Ain't art grand? rolleyes1.gif
