The white stripes of the alligator look blown out to me. The red lipstick and purple purse look a tad over saturated. The pink pumps really clash with the alligators green skin..which might also be a tad over saturated.
Looks good to me (not saying much ..though). Nice shot Troy.
The white areas are definately not blown out. You can see good detail in all the white areas, and they only measure around 200 with the eyedropper.
To see what they would look like when they are "blown out":
Add a levels adjustment layer: (Layers palette)
This is what you'll see on the screen:
Adjust the input slider to the left until its to the left of the right hand side of the histogram. By holding the alt key down while you are doing this, you can tell when and what parts of the image will get clipped.
And you will get this:
The detail has been lost in the whitest areas. :cry
I hope that made sense.
As far as the colors they look ok to me..... maybe, very slightly, just a tad unnatural, but this may be just the lighting. It looks like the Nuthatch was in the shade so the colors will look different than if they were sunlit.
Troy: Learn to use the Eyedropper and the Gamut warnings in photoshop. It's a cinch
