Actually, I was so green with envy over the beautiful shots that all have been sharing (thanks :thumb) that I thought I would share what I have been able to find in the local area.

But, mostly, I wanted to try out my new toy (Sigma APO 80-400mm F4.5-5.6 EX OS, seen here, if you're interested), mounted on my Canon 20d. My intent was to see what the OS could realistically do for me. All these shots were hand-held and exif is available (just click on the image:):).

Anyway, hope you enjoy the photos. I sure had fun bringing them to you. If you have C&C, please feel free:wink!! I can take it!

#2, #3 - Just Rats with Wings (Ring-billed Gulls), doing what they do:roflNote the hunk of bread in the beak of the lower bird of #2. I didn't (and don't) give food to wild animals. It just seems so wrong somehow.

#4 - Greater White Fronted Goose

#5 - A Rock Dove - I thought I would be one of the first (in the last couple of weeks anyway) to post one of these guys, but someone else beat me to it.

Very nice series Scott. I appreciate all good captures, eagles or not. This may be blasphemy to others but remember Bald Eagles are often carrion eaters. :uhoh

Anyway, nice captures. The gulls look a little overexposed, but nice and sharp and well composed.

Neat pose captured on the pigeon.

    Hey Scott,

Nice shots. Its looks like the 20D and the 80-400 will do well with ya. The Nikon version of the 80-400 was my favorite wildlife lens for a good while. The gulls are a tad over-exposed.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Good going, Scott. I hate to admit it, but I will feed gulls (and would feed pigeons), if I remembered the food, hardly every do!

Looks like you had fun and got some good photos.

Thanks for the hint. Looking at them a day later, I can see that there is some detail missing in the gulls. When I processed them in CS2 RAW, the histogram didn't show any highlights blown out. I will have to go back and check.ne_nau.gif
