An early walk this morning, unfortunatley the light didn't work out well for the place I intended to shoot, so took these instead

How did Flug get all the way from Flugistan to Uffington lol3.gif

Hey, that b&w would make a SUPER square crop, Gubbsie thumb.gif Thanks for sharing your part of the world with us, lovely landscapes.

I agree with Andy on the second shot. Square looks wonderful as the picture does not really need the long foreground. I can see why you took the foreground though.
Wonderful scene... The farm (or houses?) down and the trees up...
Looks as cold as here in North Yorkshire today...

Mate that cropped B&W is a really very nice shot...it shows the scale of the farm well...all i could ask for is some crop circles.

How funny that you cropped it there. I was thinking of cropping just above the lower earth. The lower part in your crop takes away attention from the trees in my humble opinion...
    (Very humble...)
I would have cropped higher to aim for the trees in full zing!
Only nitpicking here, it is a great shot!

Wow..........I want to live in your neighborhood!!! What a magnificent view!! I love the B & W. Talk about "layers"!!! That photo is gorgeous. I can visualize it done as a large canvas print with nothing else on the wall. The different crops shown above sure give a different feel to the shot, especially the stand of trees. I actually prefer more sky above the trees. Seems to make them pop out of the picture more, and they look so elegant doing so! Splendid. thumb.gif

grin, Gubbs is a male goat as far as I know, and I am a female cat.
Gubbs lives somewhere in the south of England, I live in the north...
    So no, we are two...rolleyes1.gifrolleyes1.gif

I know...just pulling your leg. The way you are quoting each other above made me have a double take.

The square cropped B&W is really a winner. Looks Ansel Adams'ish in it's contrast and tonal quality.

But my real question is where do I get the cool black & green "smuggy" hat?
    58546031-S.jpg

Much more stylin' than the cafepress "trucker" hat on the SmugMug homepage! thumb.gif

I knew, of course, that trees and plants had roots, stems, bark, branches and foliage that reached up toward the light. But I was coming to realize that the real magician was light itself.

That was from last year's Yosemite Trip...

Hey! I'm far more gorgeous than the flug umph.gif

Had a chance to work on a couple more....

Uffington is famous for the ancient white horse carved into the hill over-looking a spectacular valley (The Manger) and the castle.
The white strips here are part of the horse

Very cool shots Gubbs. What is that mound of earth? I could be wrong but it looks man-made. Is there any historical significance? ne_nau.gif
