Scouting campout this weekend. Woke up early for some bird attempts which all failed. Wound up with this one! Any comments?

I think this was well worth getting up for. (Besides, there is a bird in the pic!)

Beautiful! Nice symmetry going on here...the birds keep it from being too formal. Lovely, lovely color. clap.gif

Hey Mitch, I'm really diggin' the symmetry. The colors are great and the texture/color of the water really works. Great shot.

    Thanks for the kind comments.

Art, you've got a great eye. I missed that fin on my first go around with that shot. I was too fixated on the sun's location to notice it.
There were a lot of dolphin in the area this weekend. I think I just got lucky!:D

She's a beaut! Wish I could lay claim to that one.
But I do have to say, to me, the flying bird is kinda a distraction.headscratch.gif

AACK! I was looking for birds!umph.gif

Anyone else think I should clone out the bird before I print this one?

    Beautiful
I like the bird -- if anything I'd put in a different bird silhouette that had a better flying or gliding look to it. It breaks up the symetry.

However, I went WOW before I saw the rest of the water at the bottom, so my suggestion would be to crop out a major portion of the water -- because? Well the bridge structures form a V shape, with the sun at the bottom -- and two much water detracts from what I think is the natural movement within the frame. But that's just my humble opinion...

    Really gorgeous photo!

Great shot! If I was going to PS it I would try removing the bird, and several of the objects on the horizon, also would crop out some water.

    James.

edit: I think I would crop all the way up to and including the bright area in the water, the ratio would be about that of two 2/3 end to end, kind a pano look.

Thank you James and Dee for the great suggestion. I just reworked this with a pano look which I think really flatters the subject. Any thoughts?

    Nice...
I was going to tell you to keep it how it was; even to not clone out the bird. But I have to say that the new version is fantastic. Two thumbs up!

    It's super, Mitch.
I tried a full-gaussian blur on just the water, man, what a shot!

Great shot Mitch, I'm usually not a big fan of the sun in the middle of the picture, but this works just perfect...

I have to say that the bird is so small that I agree that it is a distraction I prefer the second version.

Holy cow!!! That's high praise that's not deserved. Thank you!:):

Andy, thanks for the comments. I was wondering if you saw this shot. How does one go about printing something like this that is such an odd size? I've only printed 8x10 or 8x12 in the past.

If you don't have a large format printer, and it doesn't sound like you do, I would have this professionally done. This would be great poster- size. Am I mistaken everyone, or is this a highly sale-able art print?????

    Thanks for the nice comments.

I wouldn't know the first thing about selling this image even if it is saleable!
