The sky was leaden grey today - not like like Florida at all, Harry!!:uhoh :uhoh

I saw this downy woodpecker working, and grabbed a few frames in spite of the light.
ISO 800 f7.1 1/60th sec 500mm+1.4TC

I also saw this little nuthatch looking for lunch.

And a curious dove..
ISO 800 f 9.0 1/125th 500+1.4 TC

High ISO, low light, lo..oong shutter speed on a grey, overcast day.

Each image was about a 50% crop with a 1DMkll.

    Nice stuff Pathfinder.

It's nice to see the less common Red Breasted Nuthatch. I have been trying to get one with little success.

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Actually Troy - I wasn't that far away mayby 15- 20 feet for the woodpecker and 25 - 25 feet for the Red Breasted Nuthatch and the dove. The woodpecker was almost full frame.

    They are just small.ne_nau.gif

Harry, it is a lot easier when you can shoot ISO 200 at 1/1000th at f7 or so.:D :D

Nice captures Path. They came out pretty well considering the ISO and the slow shutterspeed.

Really nice Pathfinder.thumb.gif I think the woodpecker came out just fine. There's a little grain on the others, but not bad considering the high ISO. I'm so glad to see you post these. I get this type of result often with ISO 800, then I'm afraid to post the shots because they're grainy. I would shoot that woodpecker in any kind of light I had, since I never see any woodpeckers.:D You got to go with what you've got. Thanks for sharing.

Nice woodpecker, I wish we had more here in California, they are great looking. Considering the low light, great captures.clap.gif

Nice set, Jim. thumb.gif We've got several 'peckers in the area here. They don't have those winter gloves and boots, though. :D
