Macro lens Q
Maybe this is an interesting question. It is to me.
Canon has an excellent macro, the 100/2.8. They also have an EF-S 60/2.8 macro that by all accounts is also excellent. Given the 1.6 crop factor, the FOV is nearly identical to the 100 on a full-frame camera, which is why they chose 60mm I would imagine. I'm using a 20D.
There is an interesting trade-off between magnification (in terms of focal length), minimum focusing distance (you can get closer with the 60, negating the smaller focal length), and depth of field. And I'm not entirely sure how that all works out.
Given this, is there any guidance on which is more useful? I am going to assume your depth of field should be larger with the 60, which would be a plus for me. I've been contacted to do more photography by a glass blower I know, I'd really like to have one of these two lenses. The EF-S mount does not concern me.
Objects to photograph will be from the size of quarter, to the size of glasses. I'm leaning to the 60. And I have plenty of time to garner advice and mull things over.
