Magical but quickly gone

Did you ever see something fleeting, yet magically beautiful? I decided to check on the weather as the day started off beautifully sunny, then changed to nasty cold, chilly and rain, then it looked a little lighter. I looked outside my door and went to grab the camera.

I walked to the edge of our "deck" and saw this view... the drops were falling fast.

Oh, the heartbreak of being limited to only a 200 zoom -- and not having a tripod, and not having enough time as the tree was losing it's magical string of drops of sparkle as I watched.

So, here's a heavy crop of one of the better shots. The drops were so pretty and I just feel that I failed to capture the beauty due to lack of time and equipment. Oh, yes, and of course it had to be backlit! I managed to get the tree next to us which at least had some side lighting. Oh well, I enjoyed the moment thoroughly.

I'm sure if I had a dSLR and lenses, by the time I'd gotten everything together and set up, the drops would have been gone and my sparkling tree which seemed almost alive, would have been normal again. I guess you get what you can, when you can.

Lovely green in that second shot. Sometimes natural colors are just amazing.

it looks like it would've been magical,
the trunk of the tree in the second one is interesting, it's so black at the bottom, kinda looks like a pool of tar. I like that one.

I know the feeling all too well. I think the 1st one sparkles with the drop and it's very pretty. What kind of tree is that? The trunk picture is very interesting.

Hay don't feel bad, I'm the one standing out in the rain with mine and an umbrella taking pictures of pine trees. rolleyes1.gif

For looking and posting. Yes, the tree was just loaded and they were dropping very quickly too!

Our weather's been a little wild lately -- sunny, pouring rain, hail, sunny, gale force winds, sunny, rainy, cloudy! But we don't get snow near the coast, hail is about as cold as we get and it doesn't last long.

If we didn't need "chains" to travel to the snow, I'd go visit it. I miss it. Just don't want to live with it :):

It helped that the tree trunk was wet and the sun was shining on the leaves... and of course the image had a lot of help with photoshop. Some colors are just too difficult to capture, but photoshop can help get to what you see.

That's part of the road (asphalt) around the roots, there's no sidewalk across the street. Thank you for commenting! :):

Standing in the rain with an umbrella. Forget the camera bags, I need a shoulder mounted umbrella system! I can totally relate. Thanks for commenting!

I had to ask Ed (hubby). He says it's a Monterey Cypress tree.

Now, you know I have my secret photoshop tool to help get this effect! I was actually wishing I did have a 3-D setup, and the glasses and all, the photos don't really do it justice.
