Note to mods: I'm not sure if this is a proper branch, but I could not find any better. If it is not, please move accordingly..
I got the news in the Net that latest version of ACDsee Photo manager provides "blazingly fast" support for RAW files. Since I'd very much love to have anything that would go through all my shots (including raw) and displayed them in a slide show fashion, I decided to try it.
My previous experience with ACDSee ranged from "very good" (v.2) to "great" (v.3) to "uninstall as soon as possible" (all the versions after that, due to the speed/memory "pissues":): ). I didn't have high hopes for this new version, but since I *really-really* wanted to have RAW files in my eternally going slide show, I decided to give it a try.
Well, unfortunately, it fell into the last category again, just like its nearest predecessors. It surely does have all the latest bells and whistles (and yes, it does support RAW files), but the performance is at the same place: :flush , or, in p.c.speak - absolutely, totally, utterly unbearable. And, I guess, you can't actually use all those fancy features if you don't have enough patience to wait until they come to life..:dunno
Bottom line: I'm back to v.3.02 for jpes/slideshow, and to Bridge CS2 for RAWs..:):
