I slunk out of my house this morning. I awoke to a scene that instilled horror in me. My wife was engaged in a round of frenzied cleaning. This could only mean that the cleaning gal was coming in today. I will never understand why when we pay the gal to clean Linda goes manic and cleans like a whiz on the days she comes in. I mean if the house was clean we wouldn't need her, right? I know I'm thinking like a man now, never mind.

Anyway my house is no place for a red-blooded, all-American sloppy male on those days. My wife and the cleaning gal usually exile me to the back yard and will periodically glare at me and utter mean and nasty things. I did the smart thing and headed out to the water treatment plant and the Viera Wetlands

the ducks seemed happy to see me

the killdeer made a rare appearance

the comorant posed nicely
59234406-O.jpg

The caracara was back and he was roosting in THE TREE :clap :clap :clap
59234405-O.jpg

and for the first time I got close enough to the kestrel to get a decent shot

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Great shots as usual Harry. Love the Caracara and Kestral shots. Isn't it great when you get to shoot birds that you don't get to see much.

    Jealous.....
You know I really am jealous. Here in northern Illinois, it can't decide if it wants to be winter or spring, and there aint many birds aroundumph.gif

    Sometimes I wonder why I don't move somewhere else......headscratch.gif

Nice shots Harry.....but it sure is easier when you have subject matter:D

    moving to Florida
Alright, that's it for me, I'm packing my gear and I'm moving to Florida.
I don't care too much for house cleaning so maybe I can move in next door and hire your cleaning lady, she can come work for me on a daily basis while I go out taking picture. rolleyes1.gif
Nice variety, Harry. Excellent as usual

    Nice shots, Harry!

(I never cleaned before, or after, a cleaning woman......but then I am an artist: does that fly? No, I don't mean as in BIF.)

And, yes, I used to be able to afford a weekly cleaning woman, with whom I left the kids, or whatever and went to whatever was equivalent for the "wetlands" in those days.) It would have been too embarrassing to just watch her clean, though I did nap sometimes.

Great set, Harry. I love the angle on that kestral. thumb.gif Looks like you were above him. Sometimes I think you must fly like a bird. You seem to be "up close and personal" with them. The sign of a good photographer, you might say.clap.gif

    Hey Nick,

Thanks for the kind words. The Wetlands were very active that day. They were much more active than last month.

Thanks Snappy. That kestrel shot wasn't easy. He is always roosting on that sign post but the road leads straight at it. I can't shoot through the front car window and when I got out of the car he flew off.

I got fairly close to him in the car and I drove off the road and down the embankment which is at an approximately 45 degree angle until my driver's side window was parallel to him and then took my shot.
