Josh thought I was nUtZ for getting these pics but these Yella Jackets in Dad's Old BBQ grill were still pretty sluggish from their Winter's nap.

Taken with Sigma 105mm Macro nuttin else with it.

First true test of bug shots with the lens and I'm impressed!:thumb

    the shots look good - that lens is a truly great performer, but you over-cooked it with the USM, check out antennae on #1 (probably not used to the images being sharp right out of the box) nod.gif

    Never heard or read anywhere that you pics tack sharp right outta the box.
    From what I read you almost always hafta tweak em.ne_nau.gif
    well you clearly haven't read everything. some macro lenses are actually too sharp. for real. nod.gif

    I'm trying to find a good reference for you on the "symptoms of over-sharpening" so that I can better explain it to you, and point out how I can tell. but truth is, I just can.

    I just sharpened up some macros actually, and to give you a ref, I only used 80% and a 0.9pixel radius. Just a touch grasshopper! ... or is that wasp?

    From what I have read from the Pro's in many mags/books.....use something like CS2 for sharpening not the setting in the camera.
