Timeline Questions
I've just started my trial period, and have created a few galleries. I have a couple questions about the timeline feature:
Preston
- The photos I uploaded were all created by a digicam, and have a 2002 date in the Exif data. However, in the timeline they show as being from 03/11/2006 ... the date I uploaded them. What's going on?
- I see that the timeline feature is only available for public galleries. I'm curious as to why this limitation exists. As the owner of my site, I'd like to be able to locate any of my photos by date, even the private ones. Is there another way to accomplish this?

You can see more info about timeline here in SmugMug Help...

If you'd like, email one photo to our help desk Attn: Andy and I'll have a look at your file and see what's up with the dates.

Hey Guys,
Quick question about timeline. I’ve noticed it displays images from my protected galleries, unprotected. Is there a way to keep this from happening?
-Chuck
I'm having trouble finding any on your site.
Can you point me to a link please where there's a photo in /date that's in a gallery where images are protected, yet they are unprotected in /date? Thanks.

Disregard, it’s working, not sure what I was seeing before.
Thanks for the quick response - Chuck
Hey Guys,
I figured out what I was seeing. If you do a search with Timeline, then change the result view to Journal. Then click on the photo to see a larger view, It will allow me to download protected photos.
My site it http://laird68.smugmug.com/
Do a search for Apr 2006, the 1st picture "Britt" is in a protected gallery
It will only let me have a smaller version of the photo, but it will let me right click and save it.
-Chuck (seems to be kind of hit or miss - not sure if that would be cookie related)
Chuck,
"Britt" is in a public, non passworded gallery:
http://laird68.smugmug.com/gallery/1122473/1/62943020
It is also right-click protected. You *cannot* save it. It's not cookie related. Look at the file you are grabbing, it's called "spacer.gif" and it's empty.
The feature works.

Andy,
Maybe it has something to do with AOL. But I am able to right click and save the file (not the spacer gif) This is the file it gives me
http://laird68.smugmug.com/photos/62943020-L.jpg
& Correct it is in a public right click protected gallery.
I'm questioning the AOL/cookie possibility, because also I can't always log into Digital Grim through it, I just get the sign in screen over and over. I have to go out of AOL and then I can open it through explorer.
If there is a way to send you screen shots I can, if that will help.
-Chuck
Yes, Chuck - you can post a screen shot right here
I cannot replicate the behavior. OH please also: Delete all cookies and temp files on your machine. Then try to replicate.

Andy,
Here is a link to the screen shots. I haven't tried this on anyone else's galleries, just my own. So not sure if it's just a one off or not.
Thanks for helping on this - Chuck

Alright. I repeated it.
I've alerted the engineers and we'll see how fast JT and Don are on this one
Thanks! Usually folks are tricked by the "spacer.gif" file. This time, definitely not the case - thank you for taking the time to be sure we gr0ked this. We'll fix it!
