We've been having some wacky weather here in California!
They showed snow on the streets of San Francisco on the news tonight.

Good catch. Yet another reason to always have a camera handy.

I thought California didn't have these, or very many of them anyway. Looks like a baby tornado or just a tickler. Did it spawn into anything more menacing?

EDIT: Funny side note... as I was writing this post, I got an email invite to the local and extremely popular Tom Skilling Severe Weather Seminar at FermiLab on April 8th.

Very nice! The houses in the foreground make the shot. The hardest thing with funnels and tornadoes is to give a sense of their size.

I remember when a tornado tore up a house or two in Sacramento many years ago.

Thanks! It never touched the ground. There was another one just a bit further North but it was smaller...it didn't touch down either.

    Great catch!
Weather in SW Indiana has been at a full roar the past few days. A couple of small tornados caused some minor damages here on Thursday. Stormed all night last nite with the weather alert radio going off about every 1/2 hour it seemed.
I didn't think you had these in CA either.

That's a cool shot! I believe that's what they call a "cool air funnel cloud" which happen when weak storms occur, on a cooler than normal day. They look neat, but hardly ever touch the ground. Then again, I'm not Tom Skilling:D . I've seen quite a few here in Illinois, but usually while I'm on the interstate, and unable to shoot...so KUDOS to you!thumb.gif

You could ask him about the cool air funnel clouds if you go.
