Advice for Professional Quality Portfolio for Nature
Hello everyone,
I'm relatively new to posting here, but have been a Smugmug member for a little while. I was wondering if I can get some advice from all you nature shooters out there. I am a full-time student the Western Academy of Photography and we are to submit a professional quality printed portfolio which will be worth 50 per cent of our entire mark for the year (the other 50 per cent is based on course work). My theme is nature and wildlife. We recently went over the types of portfolio books/binders you can purchase. However, most of the ones we were shown were for people displaying wedding, fashion, documentary or portrait photography. I'm the only one in the class shooting nature. I should mention that 15 per cent of the portfolio mark is based on the presentation of your portfolio.
I will probably print at at least 11x14 and would like it if I don't have to put my photos into a sleeve of any kind. I really like the wedding portfolio books from Art Leather because you can insert your image into a frame-like page and not have to worry about covering it in extra plastic. I have been told the best way to display nature photography is via a box with individual images on display (not in a binder); however, I'd prefer to have a binder. It would be easier to carry it around. Does anyone have any recommendations? It would be great to find something like the Art Leather books, only with less of a "wedding" look and feel. I considered finding large photo corners, but wonder if this would look unprofessional.
Thanks in advance for all your help and advice.
Sincerely,
Christina

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
