I'm not sure why, but this scene called to me. How many of you get to see orange groves, let alone with snow capped mtns in the bkgd?

At the rate the groves are disappearing, I figured I better get this shot while I can. In the 9 yrs I've been here, a large percentage of the local groves are now housing developments or shopping centers. Soon we'll completely loose the incredibly sweet scent of the orange blossoms in the spring. :cry

as always, let me know what you think,

cheers,

Colleen

Truly a scene unique to the IE. (I also am there, for school.) Those were some storms, huh? I tried taking some photos of the results as well but found the photos just couldn't do it justice.

You seem to have captured the true SoCal spirit, though! :):

thanks for your comment Al. I like living in the valley and on clear days, the mtns can be so crisp!

Where are you going to school? Must be quite different than Long Island! <edit> I just looked at your SmugMug page. We're neighbors - I'm in Highland!

Years ago when I was a kid, we lived next to an Orange grove like that. That was when Orange County had orange groves!!! (Orange groves in Orange County...imagine that!) So even though it's been many years since I walked through one and picked sour grass to chew on, seeing one still brings back fond memories of growing up. :):

Nothing like this in the UK. I really like the contrast between the trees and sky. Nicely done. :):

No oranges trees here. No mountains. And I like both. So thanks for sharing an image containing both!
enjoy being here while getting there

Very cool! I love being here for school -- especially when it gets warmer. There's always a week in January where it's snowing at home, but it's 80 or more here.

The San Diego Union had a picture on the front page of the harbor with those mountains in the background. It has to be a real clear day to see the mountains. The day after the storm was just such a clear crisp day. I was wishing I had gone downtown that day with my camera. Looks like you captured it. thumb.gif I love that palm tree sticking up there too. Great capture! You must save it for posterity.clap.gifclap

Orange, apple orchids are within 30 mins drive, along with wineries etc.
Guess should consider self lucky for living in the area for what is knows as 'The Food Bowl of Australia'. Those who live in Victoria Australia will be familiar with the Winery Walkabouts in June.

But to see orange orchid with snow capped mountains in background is a real treat. Very lucky to have such a unique view.

    Uniquely So Cal?
I must say that lone palm tree really does it!

I guess the central valley can see groves and snow too...

Glad you were able to capture the moment.
