While I was at Barnes and Noble, I bought a book marked down due to Coffee spill, or something. A Killer Tips by Kelby, of course. Changed a setting on RAW that I have wanted to know how to change for a long time. Worked these up, worked hard on them, I think they are better. Went to sleep before I could post them.

Downy Woodpecker, I think. Had to look these up. I worked hard to bring out the colors on the woodpecker and separate the basically neutral colors. I think it worked, best I could do. Smile.

Below: Night Came......egret still "poses, entices", Night Herons in the trees, visible........trees still reflect in the water. A nice early spring evening.

Below, I looked up. A full moon, I had no idea! And that shot is a straight shot without manipulation on the moon, except the normal photoshop saturation, USM stuff. There are birds in them thar trees, though the Night Herons did fly off. Apparently they roost elsewhere for the night.

I have saved the egrets, two shots worked up last night, for a different post since it is Egret Fest. It is gorgeous here today. Don't think I will leave though, might ............. have more shots from the other night, too.
The change in RAW is great. Essentially, I am now seeing my previews as I shot them rather than blown out by RAWs flawed decision making.

I hope you enjoy!

Comments, whatever, welcome,

Thanks, Jeff! What does jwlip mean?

    Ginger, mentally challenged?

Are you talking about turning off, in RAW, the Auto Correction?

open RAW image, press Ctrl U (the other one for Mac people), then under a fly out menu (to the rt of the settings pop up menu), choose Save New Camera Raw Defaults). With that you don't get those idiotic RAW corrections to a photo, and I can see what I shot! They were sometimes fine, but as with any machine thing, sometimes they were terrible. With light things, as with any egrets, I just had to guess at which photo might be worth working up. Now I can make my own judgements based on what the photo was that I took.

I might call it a Virgin Raw Photo.
(And I paid over 20.00 for that tip, hope to get more. I would have posted the question a long time ago, but I couldn't figure out how to phrase it, and I procrastinated. With Egret season coming around again..........well, the gods gave me this book, smile.)

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
