    Oh geeze, I never would have thought of that.

    Dude seriously, I've done that a bunch of times. What I come up with is ajaxWorking which as you obviously know is the green loading box and that's it. Like I was getting at, obviously there is a div that handles this sort of thing but like other things it's only generated in the source as needed apparently. And since it is speeddemon after all, I can't seem to view the source at the right time to see it because I'm slow.

    So, onethumb, jt, ben, baldy, andy, anyone with a straight answer, how can I customize the speedDemon ajax?

    Thanks.

    id="AJAXGalleries"

    id="AJAXKeywords"

    has nothing to do with when you view source. The ajax div blocks are placeholders for the content that gets dynamically inserted via javascript, but when you view source, you are viewing the original code that is sent to the browser. All that dynamic stuff happens in memory and isnt reflected in the code you get from view source. make sense?

    i'm wondering if you've actually got speedDemon turned on?

    Ah crap there it is. I could have sworn that i looked in the generated source. Guess not. Thanks.

    And I'm fixed. No more footer crashing into the altered featured galleries when loading with speedDemon. Now I like it much better :D

    (BUG?)Strange homepage behavior: 'Gallery Categories' section missing
    When i go to my site like this:
    http://flyingdutchie.smugmug.com
    my 'Gallery Categories' is missing (click on the "Other Galleries" button and you'll get a javascript error, since the entire section is missing). I checked this by checking the HTML source.

    However,
    If i go to my site like this:
    http://www.streetsofboston.com
    my 'Gallery Categories' section is there. No problem at all.

    This is strange!

    I went to my 'Control Panel', and it tells me that my 'Gallery Categories' section should be there (this is correct, because i never removed it from my homepage)
    I can't grasp the notion of time.

    When I hear the earth will melt into the sun,
    in two billion years,
    all I can think is:
        "Will that be on a Monday?"

    This buggy behavior only happens when SpeedDemon is On.
    If i disable it, the 'Gallery Categories' section re-appears on both.

    Strange that www.streetofboston.com did work fine, but flyingdutchie.smugmug.com did not work fine.... Is it because the SpeedDemon was 'On' only for flyingdutchie.smugmug.com?...

    Update:
    Happens on both IE and FireFox.
    It happens only when SpeedDemon is On.

    Thanks for checking!
    Try to switch the SpeedDemon to 'On' and try http://flyingdutchie.smugmug.com again.

    Here is the link to toggle the SpeedDemon:

    I think you are on to something there. With SD enabled, FF doesn't do anything clicking on "other galleries" and in IE it does give me script errors.

    I observed this as well, just now:
    When SpeedDemon is 'On' and when my flyingdutchie.smugmug.com homepage is loading, i see an animated graphic and text "Galleries loading" for a while... then it disappears and nothing happens, and the buggy behavior is there.

    I have this script that is needed for the 'Other Galleries' button to work:
    This script is run as soon as the document has loaded (<body> onload event)
    g_elmGalleries   = document.getElementById("galleriesBox");
    if (!g_elmGalleries)
        g_elmGalleries   = document.getElementById("categoriesBox");

    The g_elmGalleries is then used to toggle the visibility of the Galleries section (g_elmGalleries.style.display = "" or "none").

    When SpeedDemon is on, g_elmGalleries seems to be null and the script fails.
    I can't grasp the notion of time.

    I think you may be confusing that section with the 'most popular' section :D

    It's the one directly under your bio, right? I see 8 of them, with a darker blue background, other being on the bottom row in the middle, and below that i see your popular photos with a lighter background....

    Are we talking about the same thing here?

    This is what i see in IE 6, with SD enabled:

    Try to go to http://www.streetsofboston.com and click the "Other Galleries" button. Then your page scrolls down. Towards the bottom you'll see a section "Gallery Categories" appear.

    These 8 pics are part of my Bio. They provide a direct link to my portfolio-category.

    AHHHHHH, hold on, i am starting to get it....In that case, i don't get your galleries in either IE or FF with SD enabled, and i do get them with SD disabled.

    Seems like SD is fighting with your page, and your page lost...

    This may be the problem?
    I have this script that is needed for the 'Other Galleries' button to work:
    This script is run as soon as the document has loaded (<body> onload event)
    g_elmGalleries   = document.getElementById("galleriesBox");
    if (!g_elmGalleries)
        g_elmGalleries   = document.getElementById("categoriesBox");

    The g_elmGalleries is then used to toggle the visibility of the Galleries section (g_elmGalleries.style.display = "" or "none").

    When SpeedDemon is on, g_elmGalleries seems to be null and the script fails.

    When the SpeedDemon is On, i think this is what happens:
    -The HTML page loads, but without the Gallery Categories section.
    -The onload event of the <body> is fired and executed
    -The script in the above post is executed when handling this onload event.
    -The Gallery Categories section is not there and the g_elmGalleries variable is null
    -Then AJAX stuff loads the Gallery Categories section. But it is too late... since my script has already been executed during the onload event.

    Question:
    Is there a way to execute script after all the HTML has been loaded (through AJAX or not), whether the SpeedDemon is on or not?
    I can't grasp the notion of time.
