I've shot a bunch of sports before, and I have realized how difficult it can be. My sister in law went and played Dodgeball, and I went along for some shooting experience. - Here are some of them - C & C are demanded (jk), as I need to improve.

Always remember the 5 D's of Dodgeball: dodge, dive, dip, duck...... and dodge. :D

Can I ask why you had IS engaged?

Mostly Inexperience - It wasn't particularly good lighting, and I was trying to shoot at under ISO 800. I didn't have a tripod, and I wanted a minimum of 1/500 shutter, and I wanted a narrow DOF because of the ugly netting in between the two courts.

So since I didn't bring a tripod, and I was working within the lighting provided, I thought it would be appropriate to use the IS. Reflecting though, If I was able to take a 1/500 shutter speed, I probably didn't need the IS since the exposure wouldn't have shown what little movement I could have made during that amount of time. Thanks for the question though. It made me think.

Mode 1 is stabilization on horizontal and vertical axes. Mode 2 is one axis only.
