So I found this site through the Sony forum on dpReview, and noticed all of the old reguars from there hang out here (Andy, and more). I have gotten a bit tired of the childish side of folks over there, though it is still one of the better active forums around. I wanted to hang here if you don't mind, and share this picture. I had already tried posting once and this same cat tromped on the keyboard and canned the message! He is cute... though the vet and him don't get along.

Hi Mark! Nice to see you.
clap.gif Love your kitty. I lost my beautiful one this fall to a coyote. I sure miss him. Looked like yours.

Great photo! Reminds me of a branch on my tree that has been dead for years and I make the tree gardener leave it for the cats. This last guy wacked it off before I could get out there! lolol. Now they have to hop the fence to get in the tree, needless to say, not happy with me at all!ne_nau.gif

How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"

Thanks all! It's nice to see how active this forum is. Some weather ones I am involved in take several days before a response.

I have to be careful with our cats, and take them in at night. Some local groups released a more aggressive variety of coyote in our area to keep the deer count down, and now the coyotes have become a problem. Lukily our cats come when they are called, mostly. Sometimes they just hide on us for fun.

This is on the same day:

    Welcome
    and glad you found us.

I so rarely go to dpreview anymore, much less STF... the forums felt too much like high school or jr high sometimes. But, they do have a GREAT Mac forum that I like to check out every month or so.

I enjoyed your cat photos. The one ont he tree limb is great!

What an attitude on that cat! Reminds me of our last cat, a Maine Coon mix. What a character, like we were "her" pets!

I still shoot with a Sony, BTW :):

And we tend to use a lot of smilies around here. Since I'm originally from back east, my sarcasim could be misinterpreted as being mean, so I try very hard to use smiles or watch how I write things.

Oh, I never worry with HarryB though -- he out sarcasts me all the time!

My hubby was up late one night working on a project in the garage (with the door open) and he saw a coyote walk right in front of the garage, right down the middle of the road! And we live in suburbia!

Well, that could be misleading... it's an older town with lots of "open space" and right behind our little segment of houses is this huge hill area that doesn't have houses. I suspect the deer and the coyote live back there when they don't come down to visit our "hood."

    Anyway, welcome!

All I know is these coyotes are very secretive and smart as I see a lot of evidence with tracks, scat, etc, but I NEVER see them. I saw one for the first time when it shot across the road in front of us. I am outside a lot, so I would have expected to see them.

Instead I am lucky enough to catch a glimpse of the Russian boars that are loose in our area. I was so dumbfounded to see a odd-looking pig running about, I never thought to grab the cam. We are in the country, barely. Right on the edge, and development is just starting to increase. :cry
