How many photographers does it take to change a light bulb? 50. One to change the bulb, and forty-nine to say, "I could have done that better!"
And you got a bird in flight!
Congrats..............you are catching the fever, FEVER!

thanks ginger

, those were taken by jumping out from behind a car, then waiting to see where he flew, finding a car nearby, and repeating. about 5 times.

Too funny! I had the same type of experience, but from a small boat. I spent about 2 hours trying to get close enough once...see my Birds gone south post. If it was easy, who'd care?
You Yankees just don't know how to approach those fellas. Down here its a tad easier

You East coast Floridians make way too much work out of this bird shooting thing. I just open the patio door. Walk to the fridge....grab a cold one...go sit in a comfy chair in the livingroom...and WAIT FOR THE BIRDS TO COME IN FOR THEIR PORTRAIT SESSION. <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/rolleyes1.gif" border="0" alt="" >
<looks at the electronic counter> NEXT!!! <img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/6029383/emoji/blbl.gif" border="0" alt="" > :lol4
Congrats on your bird shots, Daniel.

Real wild GBHs in the midwest are not the easy, laid back birds seen in Florida. Th eones I see in Indiana, have a flight radius of about 75 yrds.

Well, now that the rest of us (yet-to-be-bird-shooters) know how easy it is (just open the door and holler "come on in!") it takes a lot of the pressure off!!! Nice job, Daniel. Congratulations! I saw one of these standing in an empty baseball field on homeplate Friday as I was driving by. Looked like he showed up for the game and it had been called for rain! He was on off a busy street with no parking.......so no photo!!!
I'm sure you have been to Arkansas before on vacations, but didn't this one seem a whole different ballgame from behind your camera? So much more to see.

Use what talents you possess: the woods would be very silent if
no birds sang there except those that sang best.

We have a WMA about 30 miles from the house that I like to go to. Last year, you could get within about 20 yrds of them (sometimes). I was just out there about 2 weeks ago and was skunked. I don't think I got within about 100 yards before they would take flight.

I like your stalking technique too......lol Don't let that Harry fella bring you down. Not everyone walks around with a pocketful of baitfish
Not to worry about clipping a few wings. It happens all the time. Birds usually fly faster than you can zoom and/or AF.....lol But, that's part of the challenge
Good work and I'll be looking for your next series of bird shots
Steve
thanks steve unfortunately the only birds we have around here in Kansas are ducks, geese, and a small asortment of birds that are hella hard to get close to.
looks like its time for me to refine my technique for stalking.
