My Canon grip will hold two batteries. Any reason why you could not use different branded batteries at the same time, especially if they are of different milliamp-hour ratings?

I assume you are referring to the BG-ED3 for the 10D? If you are, you can actually remove one battery from the grip and the camera will continue to work as usual while you charge the other battery. I cannot see any reason why you cannot use different brands - I m sure I have used a generic BP-11 and a Canon BP-11 at the same time in mine. 1drink.gif
