looks like I'm a little early...

I guess this shot would be more meaningful if you knew what this place looked like in the summer. I was going for that ghost town effect - we've had some pretty bad winter storms and you can see that the two lifeguard chairs in the background are a wee crooked as a result

of course, the lack of swimmers might have something to do with this:

Erik, I'm willing to make a bet that that has more to do with the lack of swimmers than the other way around. :D

I wouldn't go swimming there either, with the vacancies on the lifeguard seats. If only there'd be a lifeguard I'd bring my saw, and jump in! Brrr.... I like the sequence of these two images. They made me wonder: is it possible to shoot an empty lifeguard chair overlooking the frozen water? Now that'd be a sight.
enjoy being here while getting there

The river actually hasn't been frozen in front of the beach for a few weeks now. It's obviously widened and deepened at this section to make the town beach. I captured the ice while hiking downriver to the more windy and secluded sections. That would tell a better story though.

Thanks - believe it or not, I meant to do that! lol3.gif

I kept walking around the river and beach all morning trying to get something of an interesting duck shot all the while ignoring what would make for some good scenery shots. So I spent some real time lining this one up and thinking about how to make it work.

    glad you noticed. :D

Yeah, it's a popular spot for the high school kids and the weather's been warming up enough to venture out there in the dead of night for some "partying".

The best part is that the cleanup crews go there about every other saturday. Can you guess who the crews are made up of? You got it, the bad kids doing their community service. Payback's a b*tch! But oh so just!
