Measuring internet speed

I recently upgraded to Time Warner's Premium cable modem, which promising (mildly) faster upload speeds, which I'm primarily concerned about. However I'm here at work watching a gallery get uploaded from my home computer. 170 photos in 198 minutes, which is dang near equal to before. I was expecting a 33% increase in upload speed.

How can I test my connection at home to let me know if I'm still at 384k upload, or at the newly advertised 512k upload speed?

Thanks.

www.DSLreports.com has a few tests. I have 720k download and 512k upload and DSLreports showed it being really close.

"A photo is like a hamburger. You can get one from McDonalds for $1, one from Chili's for $5, or one from Ruth's Chris for $15. You usually get what you pay for, but don't expect a Ruth's Chris burger at a McDonalds price, if you want that, go cook it yourself." - me
