Cheap gear may really cost you more.

I have dropped bounced and nearly dropped almost every piece of gear I own at one time or other because of a Failed Strap on something. Lesson Learned?

When protecting a 3000.00 Camera body on a 2500.00 dollar lens do we really want to trust that .10 cent piece of Plastic? I have had so many strap failures that I actually inspect the gear regularly. I had a Nikon F3 cut away from me when I was repelling once because the Plastic buckle broke. I was lucky that the strap was caught under my back pack strap and I was able to grab it before it took the 100 foot drop.

I have had Plastic on gear bags do the same thing. I have had cheap tripods fail under the weight of a Camera before as well. It is not worth the money you save. I am writing a note here because I saw a Bit here a guy lost his camera in the car do to a Strap failure. I hate to see fellow photographers suffer.

Plastic doesn't like sun light. Plastic hates to be frozen. I live in Alaska.

So inspect your gear and Spend the money to buy the good stuff to start with.

Happy Shooting.
