Rainy day at Salton Sea

Salton Sea is actually a huge lake in the middle of the southern California desert area where a lot of migrating and local birds congregate.
My job in the area got cancelled due to rain (rain in sunny California?) so I decided to hang out at a secluded section of the lake and check out the bird scene. These are just a small selection of the day's capture. Not included are the Herons, Cormorants, Ducks, Seagulls, etc.

I might consider purchasing a 500mm lens just for this little guy:dunno

    What nice bird shots, Russ!!! I love the coloration on the Willets especially. Like the coloring with the Willet on the brown gravel. I've never been there...I'll have to check it out (after I get my new camera!) :D

    It's a nice place to just sit in one spot and check out the bird traffic, although Salton Sea is a long way from the beach cities and the other traffic is sometimes discouraging.
