ZIGView?

this thing looks really cool! i've seen the traditional viewfinders, like the Minolta, and the Canon AngleFinder C... but this is the first digital i've seen. has anyone used it?

i'm not sure on a price but if i get an anglefinder i'll definitely be considering this one.:wink

Didn't Contax have something like this?

I think it had some sort of cable so the LCD could be moved away from the camera.

I sent the developer the following:

"Subject: ZIGView video output

Do any of the ZIGView models have NTSC Video outputs? If not, is there such a critter planned?"

... and just got the following reply:

"Dear Sir
There is one planned with video out. For later in the summer months.
Yours
Tony Holmes
Wokingham Photographic"



That would be very interesting for two of my intended uses as a product camera and copy camera.

I suppose these are for each camera manufacturer, and not interchangeable between cameras, right?

But well worth the money for me, as I use my swivel lens a lot!

The ZigView S2, just released, now has NTSC and PAL outputs. This makes it a very interesting accessory for a number of applications and basically gives a real-time preview feature to dSLRs.

Looks like they have an adapter to fit it to just about anything. I think I'll just stick with an old-school angle finder when I finally need one.

looks very good for macro-nice if there was a live view histogram in it as well..but that would require another sensor

Any idea where in US you can reliably purchase this new S2 one? I checked thier dealer list, but I don't seem to know any of them:-(

Hi Nik,

I don't even find pricing on this. I think it probably isn't shipping yet, but I will wait for at least one review before even thinking about purchase.

Mail-order is probably the best bet for these units.

From this line in the press release it sounds like there's no built-in shutter release:

Wildlife photographers using the Pro-View WRD and a remote release can get incredible shots while being completely out of sight of the wildlife.

A shame. It's still a very interesting idea. I wonder what the speaker (at least it looks like a speaker/mic grille) on the remote is for though...
